Gotta Serve Somebody by Bob Dylan (lyrics)

                                                          Gotta Serve Somebody
                                                                                       by Bob Dylan

You may be an ambassador to England or France
You may like to gamble, you might like to dance
You may be the heavyweight champion of the world
You might be a socialite with a long string of pearls
But you're gonna have to serve somebody
You're gonna have to serve somebody
You're gonna have to serve somebody
It might be the devil or it might be the Lord
but you're gonna have to serve somebody.

You may be a rock and roll addict prancing on the stage
Might have drugs at your command, women in a cage
You may be a businessman or some high degree thief
They may call you doctor, they may call you chief
But you're gonna have to serve somebody
You're gonna have to serve somebody
It might be the devil or it might be the Lord
but you're gonna have to serve somebody

You may be a state trooper, you may be a young turk
You maybe on tv, or the head of some big network
You may be rich or poor, you may be blind or lame
You may be living in another country, under another name
But you're gonna have to serve somebody
You're gonna have to serve somebody
It might be the devil or it might be the Lord
but you're gonna have to serve somebody

You may be a preacher with some spiritual pride
Or you may be a city councilman taking bribes on the side
You may be working in a sweatshop, maybe you can cut some hair
You might be somebody's mistress, you might be somebody's heir
but you're gonna have to serve somebody
You're gonna have to serve somebody
It might be the devil or it might be the Lord
but you're gonna have to serve somebody

You might like to wear cotton, you might like to wear silk
You might like to drink whiskey, you might like to drink some milk
You might like to eat caviar, you might like to have some bread
But you might be sleeping on a cold dirt floor, or a King in a king-sized bed.
You might be heading North. You might be heading South
You might be laying up in a bed with a gun up to your mouth
You might be going nowhere, or you might have been there before
Maybe all of a sudden you don't know yourself no more
But your're gonna have to serve somebody
You're gonna have to serve somebody
It might be the devil or it might be the Lord
but you're gonna have to serve somebody.

We all gotta serve somebody
You and me we gotta serve somebody.

Gotta Serve Somebody - Natalie Cole

I am sure that this will be one of the songs I will sing...."Gotta Serve Somebody" the Bob Dylan song done in the Natalie Cole style. I understand that Bob Dylan did the song again. I heard it on Peter Bochand's "All Mixed Up" on WBAI, I really liked it and then I found Natalie Cole's version on You Tube and immediately came to the conclusion.....I gotta do this.

Thoughts 9/23/2014

My friend Carole Coughlin said that when she saw my picture posted on The Claude Chaney and Friends Facebook page she posted the Jive Five song "I'm A Happy Man" because from the picture
she could see that I was just that.....a happy man. It's true to this point...I am a happy man. 80 people  visited this blogsite on September 21, 2014....the most ever. The number of "Facebook friends" of Claude Chaney and Friends has increased from 153 to 180 in just four days, total fandalism views of our videos now exceeds 43,000. I was complaining about not being able to find a venue to play, but even that has changed. I will be performing at the Stapleton Restaurant and Lounge in Raritan, New Jersey. If I can get some of the people who watch me online to come out in person I will be even happier.
The event will take place on Sunday, January 19, 2014. There will be a 2:00pm show and a 5:00pm
show. Today I found out that my good friend Clarice Harper will also be performing. We help each other,
she sings on some of my projects and I sing on some of hers. At this time I don't know if I will be singing
solo or with the complete band. Besides Clarice and I there will be another singer on the program,  as well as a number by the increasingly popular head of WGM productions... Mr. William G. McCleod.
When I get more information I will post it. Peace, Claude

Thoughts 9/22/14

Yesterday I had the pleasure of experiencing WGM productions "Gospel In The Afternoon" series at Stapletons' Restaurant and Lounge at 122 Thompson Street in Raritan, New Jersey. Besides three excellent vocal performances by William McCleod, Sylvia Brown and Lenore Davis I also enjoyed a most excellent filet mignon. The event was hosted by another fine gospel singer Jennifer Bell, but this time she
didn't sing, she was Mistress of Ceremonies, which gave us a chance to see her humorous side.
I was also pleased to find that I will be performing there (on Sunday, January 15, 2015 at 2:00pm
and 5:00pm.) along with local gospel artists. This will be the first time that Claude will appear as a gospel artist with the exception of performances at First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens in Somerset, New Jersey.

Thoughts - 9/20/14

This is my first post on the CC&F Lyric page since 7/13. Linking this page to the Claude Chaney and Friends Facebook page is turning out to be a good move.....18 views on the Compadre Pedro Juan video, which is pretty good for one day.  The "Haven't Got Anything Better To Do" video was the first one partially funded by Kickstarter, which is a fundraising organization for aspiring artists. Axel Santiago has worked on the last two videos, the aforementioned "I Haven't Got Anything Better To Do" and "You Had To Let Your Good Thing Go", both of which have decent view counts considering I am a relative newcomer.
I would like to have Axel direct the next video, which will also be a storyline video like "I Haven't Got Anything Better To Do" Once again I am going to remake a song that was already done previously "Summer Breezin'" an original song taken from the Claude Chaney & Friends Live CD. Once again I am considering making this a Kickstarter project. All Kickstarter participants are expected to solicit funds for their project, detailing each step in the process and giving a full account of how much money will be needed. In the event that the goal is not reached all money has to be returned to the donors. I didn't reach my intended goal last time but I did get a considerable amount of donations which did help me to complete the project, I just had to do a lot of it with my own money.
If I decide to do another Kickstarter project and if Kickstarter approves me Axel and I could start as early as November 2014. I just haven't made up my mind yet. I am going to think about it. If any of you out there have any ideas let me know.   Peace, Claude
